  • 1 cup butter (2 sticks)
  • 1 large onion (3 and 1/2 cups chopped)
  • 2 cups celery (1/4 inch diced)
  • 1/3 cup fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 1/4 cup fresh sage (chopped)
  • 2 cups chicken or turkey broth
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 250°F. Tear bread into bite-sized pieces and toast for about 1 hour until dry but not browned.
  2. Chop onion and celery while the bread is toasting.
  3. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Sauté onions and celery for 7–10 minutes until soft.
  4. Combine toasted bread, sautéed vegetables, chopped herbs, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.
  5. Whisk together broth and eggs; pour over the bread mixture gradually while mixing until absorbed.
  6. Grease a baking pan with softened butter, add the stuffing mixture evenly, cover with foil, and bake at 350°F for about 40 minutes.
  7. Remove foil and bake for an additional 25–35 minutes until golden brown.
