  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 28 ounces crushed tomatoes
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 8 ounces uncooked lasagna noodles (9 noodles)
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat for about 2 minutes before adding diced onions. Brown the meat until fully cooked.
  2. Stir in crushed tomatoes, water, Italian seasoning, sugar, garlic powder, and salt; bring to a boil.
  3. Break lasagna noodles into 1-inch pieces and stir them into the sauce; cover with a lid.
  4. Cook for about 18-20 minutes until noodles are tender and sauce thickens.
  5. Add dollops of ricotta cheese on top and sprinkle with mozzarella; cover again until cheese melts.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with optional grated parmesan and parsley.
