- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 28 ounces crushed tomatoes
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 8 ounces uncooked lasagna noodles (9 noodles)
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat for about 2 minutes before adding diced onions. Brown the meat until fully cooked.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, water, Italian seasoning, sugar, garlic powder, and salt; bring to a boil.
- Break lasagna noodles into 1-inch pieces and stir them into the sauce; cover with a lid.
- Cook for about 18-20 minutes until noodles are tender and sauce thickens.
- Add dollops of ricotta cheese on top and sprinkle with mozzarella; cover again until cheese melts.
- Serve hot, garnished with optional grated parmesan and parsley.
