Ingredients

Scale
  • 100 g soft butter
  • 1 vanilla pod
  • 70 g raw cane sugar
  • 1 pinch organic orange zest
  • 100 g poppy seed filling
  • 2 eggs
  • 0.5 tsp baking powder
  • 170 g wheat flour (Type 1050)
  • 80 g cherry jam

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream the soft butter until smooth.
  2. Split the vanilla pod lengthwise and scrape out the seeds. Add the seeds to the butter along with sugar, orange zest, poppy seed filling, and eggs. Mix until creamy.
  3. Combine baking powder with flour and fold it into the mixture until a spreadable dough forms. If too thick, add a little milk. Cover and chill for about 30 minutes.
  4. Fill a piping bag with the dough and pipe small dots onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Create small wells in each dot using a spoon. Add a dollop of cherry jam into each well and chill again for another 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat your oven to 180°C (160°C for fan ovens). Bake cookies for about 10–12 minutes until golden brown. Allow them to cool before serving.
