  • 1 pound raw extra jumbo shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 2 large garlic cloves (chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon minced jalapeno
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons tequila (optional)
  • Thin slices of fresh lime
  • Chopped cilantro
  • Wedges of fresh lime

Instructions

  1. Soak wooden skewers in water for about 30 minutes if using.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine olive oil, garlic, jalapeno, brown sugar, smoked paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Blend until smooth.
  3. Marinate shrimp in the mixture for 2–3 hours in the refrigerator.
  4. Preheat grill to medium-high heat; thread marinated shrimp onto skewers with lime slices between each.
  5. Grill shrimp for 3-4 minutes per side until opaque with grill marks.
  6. Serve immediately with fresh cilantro and lime wedges.
