  • 1 lb ground turkey or beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 oz uncooked lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot over medium heat, brown the ground turkey or beef for about 5–7 minutes, breaking it into smaller pieces. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  2. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  3. Pour in crushed tomatoes, chicken broth, and water. Stir in Italian seasoning and sugar; season with salt and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
  4. Add broken lasagna noodles and cook until al dente (10–12 minutes).
  5. While the noodles cook, mix ricotta cheese with half of the mozzarella and Parmesan in a separate bowl.
  6. Once noodles are cooked, stir in the cheese mixture until well combined.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with remaining mozzarella and fresh basil.
