  • 2 packs frozen udon noodles
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 shallots, chopped
  • 1.5 tbsp gochujang
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream
  • 0.5 cup reserved noodle water
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp gochugaru

Instructions

  1. Cook udon noodles according to package instructions in boiling water. Reserve 0.5 cup of noodle water before draining and rinsing the noodles.
  2. In a pan over medium heat, melt the butter and sauté garlic and shallots until fragrant.
  3. Stir in gochujang and cook for about 30 seconds.
  4. Gradually add heavy cream and reserved noodle water, along with soy sauce and gochugaru; mix well.
  5. Allow the sauce to simmer until slightly thickened.
  6. Toss the cooked udon noodles into the sauce until evenly coated.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onion and optional grated cheese.
