Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 1/2 cups frozen cherries
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 2 tbsp corn starch
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tsp active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 1/2 cups bread flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 3 oz cream cheese, room temperature
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 13 tbsp whole milk

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cherry filling by cooking frozen cherries, sugar, cold water, and cornstarch in a saucepan until thickened. Let cool.
  2. Make the dough by mixing warm water with yeast until frothy, then combine with milk, sugar, eggs, salt, and gradually add flour to form a soft dough.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes, then let it rise in an oiled bowl for about an hour until doubled.
  4. Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread cooled cherry filling evenly over it.
  5. Roll tightly from one edge and cut into slices before placing on a baking sheet to rise again for about 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake rolls for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Prepare cream cheese frosting by beating together butter, cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
  8. Frost warm rolls before serving.
