Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • ¼ cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • ¼ cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tbsps whole-grain mustard
  • ¼ cup bourbon or whiskey
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tsps fresh thyme
  • 1 tsp fresh rosemary, finely chopped
  • 2 ½ lb tri-tip steak
  • 1 ½ tbsps butter

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, olive oil, brown sugar, mustard, bourbon, Cajun seasoning, garlic, thyme, and rosemary. Reserve ⅓ cup of the marinade.
  2. Coat the tri-tip steak with the marinade and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes (up to overnight).
  3. Preheat your grill or grill pan.
  4. Grill the steak for about 10 minutes on one side until grill marks form.
  5. Flip and grill for another 10 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 130°F.
  6. While grilling, prepare the glaze by simmering the reserved marinade in a small pot; whisk in butter until smooth.
  7. Let the steak rest for 7-10 minutes before slicing against the grain and brushing with glaze.
