Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp chili garlic sauce (adjust to heat preference)
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Marinate the beef: In a bowl, combine sliced beef with cornstarch, soy sauce, and dry apple juice. Let it sit for about 10 minutes.
  2. Prepare the sauce: Mix ketchup, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, chili garlic sauce, and cornstarch-water mixture in another bowl.
  3. Stir-fry the beef: Heat oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Add marinated beef in batches and cook until browned (about 3–4 minutes). Remove from pan.
  4. Cook the vegetables: In the same pan, add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant (30 seconds). Add bell peppers and stir-fry until tender-crisp (3–5 minutes).
  5. Combine everything: Return beef to the pan with vegetables and pour in the sauce. Toss well to coat all ingredients evenly.
  6. Serve hot: Once heated through (about 2 more minutes), serve over rice or noodles.
